VisaNudge privacy policy

VisaNudge reminds you when you need to leave a country so you don't overstay your visa. It works entirely on your phone. There is no account, no server and no tracking. We, Alpha21, LLC, never receive any information about you or how you use the app.

What the app stores on your phone

To work out your deadlines and send reminders, VisaNudge keeps the following in the app's private storage on your device:

• Your nationalities, which you enter so the app can suggest how long you can stay.
• Your stays: the country, the passport you entered with, your entry date, how long you're allowed to stay or your last permitted day, and whether the stay is active, ended or cancelled.
• Your settings, such as the time of day you want reminders.
• The country the app last detected you in, when it first noticed that country, and when it last checked.

This information never leaves your phone through VisaNudge. The app does not store your location coordinates.

Location

If you allow it, VisaNudge uses your approximate location to tell which country you're in, so it can suggest the right rules and notice when you cross a border.

• The location is turned into a country on your phone, using a map of country borders built into the app. Only the country is kept. The coordinates are discarded.
• Android: the app only asks for approximate location while you're using it. It never asks for location in the background.
• iPhone: the app asks for location while you're using it. You can also choose "Always" so it can notice border crossings in the background, using Apple's significant location change service.

Location is optional. Without it, you can choose your country yourself.

Mobile network country (Android)

To notice border crossings in the background without using your location, the Android app reads the country of the mobile network your phone is connected to. Android provides this without a permission. The app only uses the country code. It doesn't read your phone number, your SIM or your contacts, and it keeps nothing but the country.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your phone and delivered by your phone's operating system. No reminder is sent from a server.

No internet access, analytics or ads

• The Android app does not request permission to access the internet, so it cannot send data anywhere.
• The iPhone app contains no code that connects to the internet.
• VisaNudge contains no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking tools, and we don't sell or share any data, because we don't have any.

Backups and moving to a new phone

• Android: VisaNudge's data is excluded from Google's cloud backup. If you use Android's phone-to-phone transfer when setting up a new phone, your stays may be copied directly to the new device.
• iPhone: your stays are included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer) if you have backups turned on. Apple handles these backups under Apple's privacy policy.

App stores

Google Play and the App Store may collect information about app downloads and, if you have agreed to share it with them, crash and performance reports. This is handled by Google and Apple under their own privacy policies, not by VisaNudge. We only see anonymous totals, such as the number of installs.

Deleting your data

• Delete any past stay in the app's Settings.
• Uninstalling VisaNudge, or clearing its storage in your phone's settings, permanently deletes everything the app has stored.

Children

VisaNudge is a general-audience app. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If VisaNudge ever starts sending any information off your phone, this policy will be updated before that version of the app is released.
